What a Busy Day!!

Today was another busy day on and off the farm. First...it was payroll day...need I say more! Second---I had a doctors appointment in T'ville! Third----it was another late night of produce.....which means....we need to feed the workers!!!! Appointment was at 2:45...I left there at 4:00, I just headed straight for Sam's, we were going to cook BBQ. On the way, talked to WB & he decided to just get Pizza again, since the time was short. That gave me a little time to breathe. Went to Michaels, then Hobby Lobby. Ordered 13 Pizza's. Got BBQ from Sams...picked up & delivered Pizza's. Oh yes...needed to print route sheets & time sheets for Bart! Bed-11:00!
O:K.....when your 3 year old grand daughter has to tell you how to crank the 4-wheeler maybe you do not need to be driving it....I'm just saying.....you need to turn on the key!!!! I mean.....she is to smart & I am to dumb! Now in my defense, they are not the old type of 4-wheelers, they are a little more complicated.....but the 3 year old knows what to do!!!!

Customers.....Hispanics....our wonderful workers!

Every day while we are packing produce, at break times, WB or whoever is at the barn, sell drinks to the workers. Sometimes if the door is not open to the office, they will knock on the door to pay for their drinks. Kylie has got to where she will say....we got some mo customers. It is so cute....as they were eating tonight, she asked me what the customers were doing!!! I just laughed & explained that they were eating their supper. She wanted to go & talk to them, but is a little scared. Then she said something about talking Spanish!!!! I told her she would have to learn it so she could talk to them, well she began counting in her & Dora's version of Spanish....& she was pretty close!!

Get the barge ready cause the cubanelles are ready!

Yep, as I am typing this....they are still packing! I prepared supper for all 26 of them. Yes, we had a repeat of the wedding menu!!! Thawed out the smoked ham and cooked it, cooked the green beans & potato's in the crock pots, made the potato topping and bought the yeast rolls!!! I feel like I have cooked all day & I guess I have. Winston will not have any buns left...not that he does anyway...cause he has worked them off today! He has done a little of it all today! We knew it was going to be a big one because of the cub.'s coming in, so I told him we could just cook in the crock pots & such. Glad we did. About 2:00 Kylie & I went to the barn to put on the second pot of beans...then I saw that he would not be able to cook the potato's. So...I cooked the beans in the microwave...then moved them to the warmers. Cut those potato's & cooked them in the crock pot.....WB was so glad because he just did not have time.....hope he did not like this to much though!!! I can cook....just not my favorite thing to do! One of the Hispanics (customers)....as Kylie calls them...told me I was a great cook...I said, thank-you & just laughed. He said he did not think he was going to be able to work he was so full!

Ladies Day

Today I was blessed as I attended the Ladies Day at Forrest Park. I was blessed in many ways. It was great to meet Melissa Lester & hear her words of encouragement, what talents she is blessed with. To speak so beautifully in front of so many ladies. Her blog is also inspirational. I just wish I could put words & stories together as she and many others can do!!! I just ain't got it....and I am well aware of it!!! I also got to enjoy a wonderful tea party with my nieces! The food was delicious & the hot tea was not so bad either! Macie is just in to being crafty, Ally and Katie are also, but Macie really gets into it. You can see her wheels turning & she will write down those ideas!!! I also got to be with my Mom & sister which was fun too! Thanks for inviting me!

Happy 25th Cole

Yes, 25 years ago today I was blessed with my first born. A son, weighing 7 lbs 14 & 1/2 oz. and 21 & 1/4 in. long. Winston Cole Bridges. We almost lost him a few times during delivery....we were just to young & dumb to realize what was actually happening. He got in distress and his heart rate went down to a mere 14 beats a minutes, a few times! After this happened the third time, Dr. Smith said--prep for surgery---we are not going to loose this baby. My head was so fuzzy I could not think straight. I said.....I don't care how you get it out, just get it out! We did just that...c-section....oh my, what a shock, I felt like someone had jumped up & down on my stomach....the Dr. did get to my side & tried to push him into the canal.....but he would pop right back out....his head was to big & cocked backwards. We did get him delivered with quite a cone head!! But it rounded out just like the doc said it would!!! He has always loved the outdoors, the farm, hunting and fishing. He is kind & gentle to older folks, he shows lots of patience with them. Hope you had a great day, I love you very much! I think he is quite a handsome young man...but any ole black bird that don't think his feathers are the blackest ain't much of a blackbird!

Empty Nest

Yes, after 27 years our nest is empty. It is bitter-sweet!

Rosea Jelly

Posted by Picasa A few years ago, a widowed neighbor, who is a dear friend of mine, gave me some jelly. It was so good & I had never had any like it before. I asked her what kind it was & she said...rosea. I had never heard of rosea before! She told me she had some bushes planted. I told her to call me when she got ready to make some more, because I wanted some & I wanted to see what rosea looked like! She called last week & told me the rosea bushes were ready. I went one afternoon, but the blooms were closed up. I snapped a few pictures of the rosea & went back the next morning to catch the blooms open. She told me that you actually pick the fruit, peel the purple part off, boil those & the inside green part...you can let dry & plant it. Pretty neat. I bought the sugar & some more jars so she could put me some off. We kind of trade off some produce & such. Thank-you Ms. Wilma

Fall Produce off and running.

Yes, the madness has officially began on the farm. The first 2 days have been typical with the window unit going out in the office on Sunday and then on Tuesday the rear-end in the truck went out on Bill as he was on his way to Thomasville to pick up some stickers that we have to put on all of the produce !! Had to call a wrecker to pick them up and bring them home! Kylie & I cooked lunch for Winston, Cole & Bill today. We made taco salad. She got out some of my Tupperware, placed it on the counter and insisted that we take her "empty" containers also!

New Window Unit for the Office

Winston & I went off for the weekend again, arrived home early Sunday so we could get back to Central in time for class. Sunday night, Winston was trying to catch up on his watering....it was hot in his office so I just cranked down the window unit. Well about 2 hours later it was not working at all. Yes, I tore it up!!! Well, I got up bright & early Monday, took the old one back & they replaced it since it was still under warranty! I also ran a few more errands for Winston. It was pretty warm Monday & they got unit installed pretty quickly!!! I know he was thankful!

Bunny goes to Sunday School, as usual

I dropped Kylie off at Sunday school & went on to my class. Jerry & Laura McMullen are teaching this class. When I picked her up this is what she and her little bunny had….a paper for her & bunny.IMG_9391

Too Cute To Pass Up!

Posted by Picasa These were to cute to pass up, Kylie noticed the cupcake cookie jar immediately!

Night at Ponte Vedre

Posted by Picasa So pretty at night. Oh yes, they came in at night.....turned down your bedding...placed the robes, slippers, menus, etc. at the end of the bed and left chocolates on the night stand.....cleaned twice a day if you wanted....24 hour room service....man, it was the best! They also had doorbells, when I first heard the doorbell I thought it was on the tv! Thank-you to my hubby for such a fun week-end and to Bart & Casey for sharing this place with us!

Ponte Vedre Resort

Posted by Picasa This is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. We had so much fun, we went back the next weekend! We met some of the nicest people, everyone was so friendly. Almost like Valdosta! The fountain was huge and so pretty! The grounds were kept immaculate. Winston could walk right out back of the Inn & golf. He golfed with New Yorkers, lawyers & Doctors....young locals etc. They were all nice folks and had lots of questions about his farming operation! I decided I would just do some shopping. On Friday, we stopped by the Avenues Mall on the way there. They have a huge Belks......I was amazed & a little bit irritated that ours is so small! We found some great bargains for Cole & Winston. I found the Vera Bradley store & had a blast in there. Didn't stay to long on Friday, but Saturday.....while WB golfed, I shopped....10-5! We had great food at most of our meals. We shared many laughs & got to enjoy each other before the fall produce kicks in on Monday.
After turning round & round, Kylie said....I am so bizzie for dizzie...to cute!

Wedding Day

Oh Boy, it is finally over!!! I must say... I did enjoy most of the preparation for the wedding. As difficult as planning a wedding is.....all in all .....it was a great time. Bart & Casey thought they would get married next April. That was the plan to begin with, but Bart decided he just could not wait to begin this new life with Casey & Kylie. He asked if they had to wait until next April, I thought, well... no you don't....all you need is the photographer, minister and location! It happened to work out for the 5th of September. Heirs Lodge was the location. I am still running on adrenaline! Let's just say that the fireworks were hot at the wedding, so hot we even had a fire!!! More details later!!! So funny & only would happen to us!
