September Eleventh-Part III

Kylie got upset when she had to leave her Mom so Teresa gave her some crackers and a drink!

It took forever before they brought Isabella to the nursery, it must have been around 12:15. They did her foot prints, gave her the shots, gave her a bath and she got really mad…but loved her hair being washed…it looked just like she melted when they washed her hair.

Nana Laura (Bart’s Mom)

The nurses saw Ky looking in the window and they told her she had her nose. Kylie said, that’s my baby sister. Then they had another baby that was back there…Ky said, oh no…don’t get that babies mixed up with ours!

By this time we were all exhausted. Ky was in the whining stage. Cayla helped me get her in the car and Ryan picked her up. Before we could get to Remerton she was asleep. We got home at 1:30!

Everyone trying to make Kylie happy…she just needed to got to bed!!!

Saturday, September Eleventh-Part II

They took her back, confirmed she was staying around 4:45. They asked us to go and get her bags, so we were glad too. I had also forgot my glasses….so we just went to the nearest pharmacy and grabbed that and a few snacks! Back at the hospital, took her bags to her and waited in the labor room, watching as they were getting all the monitors going and such. She was having contractions as everyone was getting prepared. Cayla told her that she would really like to stay and watch, the nurse told her that she could actually have 3 people, but that was totally up to her. CJ said…I will just stand over here and not say a word….i promise. So big sister and Bart said, that’s fine. CJ was so excited. How sweet of them to let us share this with them.

Dad and Mom

Before long it was time for the epidural.  Of course, everyone has to leave at this point. We go to the waiting room, I told Bart this would be a good time to grab a quick bite of supper. The three of us went to the snack bar and ate. Bart had pizza, Cayla had chicken strips…I do not remember what I ate…I think a BLT!!! We ate, Bart got through before us and went on back up.

The next time they checked her she was at around a 6. I told Bart he may want to go ahead and tell his Mom to come on up to the hospital!

We are ready to meet Isabella!

They did and Martha, Mom and Buffy came up for a little while too. Katie was sick so Mom and Buffy would not stay long and surely did not want to make all of us sick if it was contagious!

Many of the Stephenson’s came by too! And our Ryan came and waited too. He said he was nervous and it was not even him!!!

At first, we were all happy and cutting up with each other and such, but as time went on and we saw little Izzie struggling….it got really quiet as we were all watching the monitor. CJ was giving Ryan updates through the text for everyone in the waiting room.

Bart did a great job of coaching and staying calm…he did awesome!

During the labor Isabella’s heart rate began to drop. Lets get on your left side and see how that works. It did for a while, then another spell of low heart beats….lets try your right side….did that for a while and it seemed to help. I am totally watching the monitor as is Cayla, Bart and Mom. I remember Casey pointing at it one time, wanting me to get the nurse…I told Casey…she will be here before I can get out that door, because she is watching it out there. Several times I had seen it drop drastically and she would pop in the door about the time I would really be getting worried. Once again…she was right there and her name was Jill and she was great!!! She did all the work, what the doctors used to do! Then they just come in and catch them so to speak.

At one time, the crew in the waiting room called back and wanted an update. I went out a gave a quick one.

At around 9:30 Jill (the nurse) told her she thought it was time to start pushing. She was effaced, except for one area. The epidural worked for the contractions, but not in other areas. It was so different than Kylie’s birth. Oh boy, I was about ready to go to the waiting room too!!! Casey did great and pushed her out pretty quickly considering!!!

Then, there she was…our sweet Isabella. She did have some trouble for a while with her breathing. I had not heard this with any of mine or Kylie, so it did make me uneasy! Probably for around 45 minutes they worked with her, suctioning her. Once the nurse from the nursery came she began sounding better.

Teresa worked with Casey, during this time. It was a pretty quite room for a little while. Once they assured us the baby was fine and got Casey tended to, I felt much better.

Cayla took most of the pictures, because seeing babies born just makes me cry. Do not know why, I did not cry with my own….but these grand's just get to me…plus I had c-sections, maybe that is it! I just gave her the camera…great job CJ! One proud and excited Aunt!

Kylie meets her new little sister….priceless!

Saturday, September Eleventh-I

Today is a day we will always remember at our house. First,  for all the lives that were lost and for their families. Second, on this day…I was having surgery in Augusta Georgia on this day nine years ago. When I went in all was fine, when I came out…well, tragedy.

Casey is still hurting some, but still a dull pain. She sent Bart on to go hunting, Kylie is here playing, I am going to a shower for a sweet young lady that I coached many years ago and I love her dearly! Can not believe she is old enough to be having  a little one!!!

As I am telling Casey that I am ready to go and for her to call me if she needs me….(she is sitting at my desk on the computer) She said, either I just wet my pants or my water is breaking, it is just a drizzle. I said, well maybe Isabella is on your bladder. Casey said, well I do not feel like I need to go. I said, well you may want to call and talk to them about it. She said, I will and I will call you. I told her I would not stay long, but I was supposed to help Cayla paint afterwards…she said I will call if anything is happening.

I leave, got in the interstate and she calls. They said I need to come up there and let them check this out. I said….do I need to get off at the next exit and come back home to get Kylie. No, Casey said,  I am taking Ky by to Amber and she can play with Hunter for a while. I am going to go ahead and wash my hair before I go and you go on to the shower! I told her to bring my camera…..I knew if I left it she would go on in to labor, we had been so prepared to weekend before for her and she is going  to wait for us to be unprepared!!!

I did go on to the shower!

We did not want to tell anyone because it could be a false alarm, and that is a pain anyway you look at it. I did tell WB. Cayla was at Grandma’s, and has been driving us crazy with call after call…anything yet? she would ask, oh man….I am tired of  waiting she would say. Over and over…so we did not want to false alarm her for sure…lol!

I went to a lovely shower and so many asked….no baby yet? No, not yet….but real soon I would say! If not today….then I feel for sure Monday! Tressie got many cute things and I was so glad I got an invite! And may I just say that she looked absolutely beautiful!!!! So sweet and exciting! I told them I enjoyed it and left after about an hour!

Had to keep myself from running to the car! Grabbed my phone and Casey and Bart were just dropping Ky off at Ambers. Amber was so sweet to help us out at this special time!!!

I called Cayla, she was waiting on me. I told her that I did not think we were going to be able to paint today. Why not? Well, your sister is on her way to the hospital…..what….oh boy…well come by here and get me cause I am going!!! I told her to meet me, she said, no…come get me!!!

So I did, and on the way I called Bart again. I asked if she was still leaking….he asked Casey, just as she was standing up….then I heard Amber say…let me get you a towel Casey…then I knew for sure that her water was breaking!!! Casey said….yes, my whole pants are wet!!!

I told Cayla to hurry and get dressed or I was going to leave her!!! She ran in and got her make-up and clothes, and off we went. She asked about the camera, I told her they had it with them!

We called WB, then on to SGMC. We got to the second floor waiting room, not a person there. CJ went, picked up the phone and they told us she was on her way up. In about 5 minutes here they came, up the elevator…at first they were just going to evaluate her, but once they talked to her….oh no, you are staying….of course we knew that!!! We called G-Ma, and Buffy and let them know!
