Cayden

Cayden is so funny and cute. He is walking a little, pushing toys around like a bull dozer. He loves for you to read to him. He will back up to you or root around until he gets in your lap so you can read him a book!

Way to go Kylie!!! She swam without her arms in swim  survivor class! Now, let me just say that we were given the heads up on this….and I fretted about it all weekend.

She was using her hands, like dog paddling here and there….they do not want this. Also, when she flipped, she was using her shoulder to flip herself instead of using her hips. So….I prayed for her this weekend, and myself…since I would be taking her come Monday!

We went and ate at Chic-fil-a and we talked about the teachers. I asked her if she liked them, of course she does! Then I said, you trust them too don’t you? Yes, she does. I am trying to prepare her without telling her what they will probably do today. I told her I agreed with her fully! That they were all doing a great job and that they take care of here students! The only thing she said was….they had not let her go down that slide yet!!! Too funny!

Here we go, on to class, MamaJ is nervous…but we can do this! In the pool she goes and they work with her for a few minutes, then…I see the teacher reach for the top of a wet suit…..oh boy, I just covered my face with her towel for a minute. Then I watched Ms. Margie put it over her head, told her not to worry about the arms, she did not them to swim with today anyway! Then she took the loose sleeves and just tied them together so they would be out of the way, Kylie is just grinning and looking like, this is crazy! But now, she can not use her arms and she must use the hip to flip. They warmed her up a little and she did great, she was smooth and relaxed…amazing! They have to retrain her brain to do it the correct way!

Today, she did not have to wear it, but they are going to move her to a longer class time two days a week.

Kylie has never really liked water in her face or ears, so she really wants and needs to learn how to be a good swimmer! She is well on her way!

Childhood Swimming Memories

I talked to my sister Lynn yesterday. We talked about her teaching and kids and then I told her about Kylie taking swim lessons.

Oh dear, the laughing began!

Now, we did not get to go swimming a whole bunch, but we did go some!!!

Some kids just love the water and some do not. Well, one of us loved it growing  up and one did not. Sometimes we can have a bad experience and it stays with us!

While down at Cherry Lake many moons ago, we were jumping off the dock. Someone did not go down the dock far enough and jumped in, blacked out for a second and that was the end of courageous pier jumping. People asked are you ok? Sure, sure!!! NOT!!!  I assume the wind must have gotten knocked out of this person!!! Oh, not fun out of the water, much less in the water!!!

Barwick Pool was another place we got to go and swim. Aunt Tommie was tall and she would let us swim in between her legs, she also taught us how to swim. Thanks Aunt Tommie!!!

One of us liked underwater swimming and one of us did not. One did not mind splashing and one did! One did not like her hair wet and one could care less. One would jump off the diving board and one would not. One of us decided to be brave one day and strike out across the pool…dog paddling, no less!!! About the time she got in the middle of the pool she ran out of steam and had to grab the nearest thing, which happened to be one of the Thompson boys. LOL!! She had to ask for a small lift to the edge of the pool!!!

We have decided that Kylie gets her swimming technique from this sister!!!

I am so glad one of us has a memory because the other one did not remember all of this story, until her memory was jarred a little!!!

Fun childhood memories, sisters are the best!!!

Got this picture right before they covered it up!

A picture from the old days….not this is not either one of us. I do think the one on the right sitting is our cousin Paula! It even had a pool for the little ones!!! I almost forgot about that!

Last week as Kylie and I were trying to go to sleep, someone was snoring. Kylie was tired and she said, “how are we supposed to go to sleep with all that noise, we will never get to go to sleep!” I laughed and just moved Papa’s arm around some so he would stop snoring. She told me that was not going to work, but it did long enough for her to go to sleep! Too funny!
