One Busy Day

Today was a crazy, busy day! It started out with a one year doctor visit for Cayden. His appointment was at 11:45, we left the office at 1:00. We had enough time to go and get a bite to eat, make a stop at Walmart for a little while and head to Cayla’s doctor appointment at 2:45. Cayden and I opted to sit in the car and watch Nemo and play!

Cayla has been so uncomfortable for a few days now and is having some back labor. I actually brought my make-up and such, just in case she goes today. I have my camera for sure and also a pair of walking shoes if she wants to walk after swim….yes we are still in survival class…but tonight is our last night! In March we will go back for a refresher.

Her appointment went well, he told her to come back next week….but he did not think she would make it until then! I have predicted this baby would come early in the am all along!

Cayla forgot to bring his clothes for swim, so she went to get them while Cayden and I wait for her. He decided to take a nap.

At survival class, Cayden and Isabella are in full clothing, learning how to stay a float if they fall into water! Great job kiddo’s! Kylie is wanting to come home with Ma J! I know that Cayla is wanting to go and walk, so I told Kylie she would have to wait this time, boo hoo! Cayla is having more back pain and looks like it may be moving to the front while waiting at swim.

She did not say to much, but we could see it on her face. We decided to go walk and grab a bite to eat. Really we just fed Cayden! We got an Icee and pretzel bites. We kept walking and the pains kept coming, could it be for real???

At 6:58, I decided we just might need to time these contractions, they seem to be pretty regular to me. I got out my phone and some paper and pen. Walk and potty, walk and potty…lol! She has been in touch with Ryan and has the info to call him at work if things keep progressing. She is determined to be sure this is the real deal before going to the hospital!

The contractions started out at 8 to six minutes apart. About and hour and a half later they were at more six and seem to be lasting longer. Then, we got out her phone and started timing the length of them. At first  they were around 30 to 35 seconds. Then moved to 55 to 60 seconds. We called Casey and Bart to try and remember how long they needed to last! I never really went into labor with any of mine, just back labor!

At around 8:30, we decided to go and get baths. First we thought we would leave her car at Steak n Shake and run to my house. On the drive from the mall there, I looked at my paper and it hit me like a freight train. The last few contractions were a steady 5 minutes apart and lasting 58 to 60 seconds. Plus, we still had to take Cayden to Great-Grandma. Fifteen minutes to my house, that would be thirty minutes round trip….I don’t think so!!!

When Cayla pulled up at Steak n Shake, I looked at her at said, “You need to call the hospital before we decide to go to Morven.” I don’t think it wise, your contractions are 5 minutes apart and 60 seconds long! She called and they said to come  on up!

Cayla could not get Great-Grandma on the phone at first, she was at a ballgame, of course…lol! But, I got her and told her she needed to go to her house and she asked me why??? LOL!!! Cayla called Ryan and she headed to G-ma’s. I had to make a stop at Walmart first! LOL!!!

We got to G-ma’s and she got a quick bath before Ryan got there and they headed on up to the hospital. I got a quick bath and tamed my frizzy hair (tiny bubbles-has a heated enclosed pool-need I say more)! Off to the hospital I go!

When she got there, around 10:00, they did not waste any time, straight up to labor and delivery they went! Ryan sent a text she was at 5.5 centimeters. They also told her she may not get an epidural, now I feel really bad….I should have made her go earlier…but she was determined not to be sent home…..well, she is not going home for sure! They are really rushing around getting things ready….I mean they are getting it!

They pumped 2 bags of fluids through her quickly and put a rush on the blood work, great nurses this night!!! They gave her some demaral (sp) to ease the pain, the contractions are off the chart on the monitor! When she got to six she slowed down a bit, thank goodness…..bring on the epidural!
