Friends

" A friend is one to whom one may pour out all the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping and with a breath of kindness blow the rest away."
- Arabian Proverb

I called my dear friend Marie today to see if she could meet for lunch, we do this on occasion and I just love it. She is the bestest friend you could ever want or need. I also love her husband who I knew before Marie. He got a great women when he snagged her!!! And Greg, well who could not love him. I never had any brothers, but I will tell ya, he ranks right there on the brothers list. I have a few guys who I consider great friends and he is at the top of the list. I am so glad these two found each other…I gained a new best friend when this happened and have been  richly blessed and am honored to have her as a friend. The proverb above describes our friendship, we can bare our souls to each other and not worry about it. Marie, I love you and thank you for your friendship. Looking foreword to our next  session!!! LOL One day…New York, New York!!!

aaatention….

Since we have become empty nester’s so to speak, I have been helping WB with a few more things on the farm…like cooking!!!  Well, he was commenting on how much he appreciated it and how even his clothes he had worn to work that day had been making it back to  his closet by the next night, and he really liked it!….I told him not to get to used to it…. He said, “I haven’t had this much attention in years!” Poor thing, I guess it is true. I did try, but with all the kid’s, coaching and teaching over the years, a grand baby, I am sure he did get pushed to the side at times. He is loving every minute…(well, he does miss the crazy house and would welcome it again I am sure) of  my undivided attention…except the days Kylie’s here. He is a mess!

closet

Well, I hate to tell this…but the closets have not been repainted since we built this house. That would be 1996! Can you believe that?? Oh, how embarrassing! But who really wants to unload the whole closet to paint? Not anyone around here and if we had not had kids moving out it would probably been a few more years. I decided it just had to be done, so I have done 2 closets. This one is in my office & just could not load it up until I painted…I just need more shelves!IMG_9424 Also need a new rod.

A Crash In the Night

Last night Cayla spent the night again, we ate late. Around 12:30 or 1:00 a loud noise was heard in the back yard (except by WB). Cayla said she just froze, I knew what it was immediately, I have heard it many times before!IMG_9399 IMG_9400

Neighbors Halloween Ms. Scarecrow

The other day I was heading out to run errand and this is what I saw over at some of the neighbors house. It just cracked me up…now how creative is that. Never in a million years would I have thought of this!IMG_9356 Check out the pencil for the cigarette, and the lamp shade for the hat! I just loved it~

Gettin Crafty

IMG_9410 IMG_9381 I am trying to reclaim my office since Casey has gotten married. Kylie told me that it was her room. I told her that before she came along it was CaCa’s room, then my office, then her room. she did not quite understand that. As I was looking at this old pencil holder I was using…a ceramic jar I have had for oh, a very long time, I was so tired of it…so I remembered this paper I bought the other day that I just love & then the crafting began….

Tonight's Menu

Tonights menu is....Stouffer's lasagna and Tres Leches (three milk's in English) Cake and wheat rolls. Don't know if the cake will be good or not but the the pioneer woman said it is what they eat back home in Mexico! Pictures of the cake coming soon..don't get your hopes to high! Well,  as you can see they loved it!

Who has Free Vegetables?

I truly do not understand people…and I do not mean family, that will come to your farm and think that you should just give them free produce. I mean…hello….this is how we pay our bills..does anyone else get free groceries??? I have not received any free groceries at the stores when I go, have you??? I wonder if we gave away all of our crops if God would pay our bills. Would he give us a miracle? Now, don’t get me wrong. If a there is a needy family or a widow that needs food, we would be thrilled to assist them, and we do…every crop we do help a widow or two, etc. And if a family is having problems you can bet we will help all we can. This is the thing, those are not the people who are taking advantage, it is the ones who  have plenty! One lady came, brought her friend & began to load up the back of her truck. Another man came, stopped by the squash field on his way in and stole a few squash…those are his words, not mine. Then wanted just three zucchini…that is not worth my time leaving the house for…never offered a cent..not one! Might I add that  the squash market has been awful this fall & we just hope we break even!  Which means we will need to recoup $3000.00 per acre for squash grown on plastic and $2000.00 per acre for the squash grown on bare ground! OK, I got it off of my chest! Enough said!!!

Fabulous Fridays

I tell you, Friday’s and Monday’s on the farm are an adventure. The workers got home early Thursday, we had a short picking day. This is not always the best for them as they like to celebrate an end to a early workday, if you know what I mean!!! Well, Sure enough Friday comes around, at least 7 are at home with hang over’s, a couple are at work in this condition, one of the crew leaders had his van stolen, by one of his crew, anther one had to have a visit from the Morven PD! All this leaves us short handed needless to say, which means someone has to pick up the slack. That usually falls on WB, Bill, Cole and even myself!  Wonder why WB has grey hair! It is like having a small army of teenagers! But we are so thankful to have them, we could not do it without them!
