My memories written...in a not so proper way...so I can remember what in the world happened during my crazy, fun, blessed life!
A nice Friday
Today my Mom came over & I worked on some curtains for her. We enjoyed our visit with her very much! Kylie cried because she did not want Mana to go home. Later in the day Winston & I headed to the golf course to practice a few strokes. We had fun, it was just nice to spend time with him alone! Then out for a bite to eat. It was a fun night shared with each other. Thanks for taking me honey!!
Santa Picture & Christmas dress
I received and email Sunday, I think, about Santa pictures at Phillip Walker Photography for Wed. of this week. It was short notice due to Santa having another commitment in the area. Any way, I had fabric ready to make Kylie a Christmas dress, just not in 2 days!!! I started it Monday night. Kylie helped me with it on Tuesday until my patience wore out! I did try & let her help, but she is just 2 1/2. She did
give her opinion on the dress. She wanted me to put it on the table, then she got some more fabric & started redesigning the dress. She stepped back & told me it needed something else...then she patted it & said.... it needs a pocket!!!! Oh my, what a
trip! I worked on the dress until 12:00 last night. I had so much trouble with it!! I wanted to add some embellishments to it, so I had to adjust the pattern....I do not think I will try that again! I took it apart several time's, made 1 button hole 3 times....I know why I do not sew any more....I do not have the patience to do it!!!! This morning I finally whipped it and made a hair bow!
We arrived for our picture with Kylie looking like a doll in her dress. Kylie spotted Santa through the open door right off the bat! We went back & she walked over slowly, climbed in his lap and smiled at the camera!! She wanted to look at Santa instead of the camera, but we got several pict. to choose from at the end of the shoot! It was just priceless watching her with Santa! She gave him a kiss before we left. Then as we were picking out our pictures she was playing with some of the toys and watching Santa. Cayla saw her lying on the floor, on her belly, with her chin resting on her hands just staring though the door at Santa! She wants a doll & stroller. Let me just say, this Santa is the best I have ever seen!!
The Barm
One of Kylie's favorite things to do is to go to the barm (barn) to see her Papa & play! We went down today & she had a blast. She ate a pb&j, played golf, played with Uncle Cole, Mr. Bill & Papa. She even had Papa, Bill & myself playing hide-n-seek! It was funny. She told Papa to go hide, she then started to count & peek as he was hiding!!! She played with her buckets & shovels in the sand...and put dirt on Bill's shoe! Sorry Bill!
Our Baby Girl nearly grown!!!!
Blessed
We are so thankful! Our produce seemed to survive the cold weather, this week! Thank you Lord for answered prayers!!! We are totally under his mercy with our crops, they are in his hands. I have often thought, what faith a farmer must have to invest his time and money into a crop. Let's face it....you take a seed, plant it, water it...that is if you have irrigation...if not, you get on your knees & beg for rain...or for no rain, or sunshine, or for it not to get to cold...oh my, a whole lot of praying going on around here!! But, we know he will take care of us, no one at our house has starved as of yet...I need to wire my mouth shut!!! Some times I would tell WB, you may as well go out there and plant dollar bills instead of seeds, it felt like we were just throwing money away. My husband, as well as many farmers, is not a quitter. He would just say, that next year would be better, and sometimes it would be! He is a very hard worker and with God's help, we have been very blessed.
Lazy Eye & Amblyopia
The article below is very exciting for me as I have had this condition all of my life! I had surgery when I was very young to correct the eye as it was pulled inward. It helped the muscle with glasses and patches. Those patches as the biggest pain! They itch when you get hot & sweaty!! Plus you can't see worth anything with it on. I know that is the point, to make the eye stronger & work better. It did help with the muscle, I am sure, but not with the vision. I wore glasses until I was a Jr. in High School & a new Dr. said to take them off, they were hurting my good eye. I was so happy I nearly hugged his neck!!! Kids are so mean in your early years about anything different...yes, I got called 4-eyes and yes it hurt my feelings so bad! But, I am sure those people, as adults now, have learned better! I remember loosing my glasses all the time!! Trying to watch t.v., pulling back the patch so I could see what was on, my sister telling on me!! She said she was sacred I would go blind!!! Thanks Lynn!!
I never knew there might be things that my vision would affect. Like depth perception, balance and anything approaching your blind side! When you have dealt with it all of your life, you just don't know that you might not be as good at some things as people with vision in both eyes. One thing I absolutely can't do is to water ski on one ski! I have tried & tried, I even tried to ride a wake board a couple of years ago! Ha! I also could not see a pick coming in basketball from that side! Now I know why I shot an missed the whole goal every now & then..I was definitely a defensive player!! Too funny!! I have learned to hit a golf ball! Now, when it starts getting dusk...I will swing & miss!!! At first we did not think that much about it, but it has happened several times and we have seen a pattern. I have learned to laugh at myself...the greatest gift I have given myself!
All of my children have been checked for this. The thing is, this can happen at any time during your life. Cayla has it, of course she would be the one, but she has made her brain & eye over compensate and it works part of the time! She is one of the rare ones that has done this!! I also have a sister that this happened to when she was older. So, I guess you should have your kids vision checked annually, who knows. Sorry for the long post, but I just needed to blog about this! I really would like to try this procedure, but I doubt they would try this on a middle-aged person....did I just say middle-aged!!!
