Today’s appt went pretty well. The break is healing but with the cast on the wound is not healing so fast. They took him out of his cast, cleaned it out, put him back in a soft cast…now he has to clean it out every day…put back on the soft cast…and re-wrap it. Uggghhhhh!
Our Kylie -what a hoot!!!
As she is standing on the stool, about to get in our bed….she looks (and Papa is asleep of course…he gets up with the chickens & goes to be with them….he is on his side & is taking up his half of the bed) at Papa then looks up at me & said….Look, Mema J….Papa is taking up all de bed, what we gonna do about dat? He needs to get ober!!! She was as serious as she could be…that is what is so funny! I told her to get on in there & root him over, he will move! Yep, he did. Later on we are just lying there, the tv is on, but volume down real low. She said, Mema J-----yes Kylie?…I need my buty sleep----OK honey-----well, she said….the TB is on!!!
WE ARE GOING TO BE GRANDS AGAIN! SO EXCITED FOR BART AND CASEY…CONGRATS!!! EXPECTING IN EARLY SEPTEMBER!
Today we rode through the creek….on the 4-wheelers…I was laughing & screaming, scared I would turn over. That is how we get to Cole’s farm that joins our farm. I took my camera, of course to record the progress they are making on his farm. There were some flowers there and I began taking some shots of those and Kylie began to pick them…almost every one of them!
Cole killed this deer a while back and had it mounted. He hung it in WB’s office/man cave. We walked down there one day while Cole was there, the deer was right above her head. Kylie was scared of the deer…Cole told her his name was Fred! She ran & got behind Papa’s chair. Today we went and she wanted to pet Fred. She said…hey old Freddie boy, how ya doin? She also put on Papa’s glasses and said we were going to have a taffy laffy party!
Back to DR this AM. They took out the stitches and cleaned up the wound again, another x-ray and put on a black cast…we thought it would show less dirt. Now, he can romp and stomp through the woods and his hand will be protected! Go back again in 2 weeks. I am guessing another x-ray to see how the thumb is healing & to check out the wound??? The bone is shattered & I think the DR wants to keep an eye on the part he did not put a screw in. Praying that it will heal on its own and no more surgery!!!
Thursday, I heard on the news that South GA could possibly get some snow. I told WB that I would love to take Kylie to see some snow, he thought it was a great idea. We could go after he did his banking on Friday. We talked early Friday AM and I really thought we would just take a chance & stay home, we could get a little. Then around 10:00 I looked on the net & it said that Fort Gaines was getting snow already. WB called to make sure, yep they were! He came home & told us to get a suitcase packed. He had made a reservation at George T. Bagby State Park. Kylie and I threw some duds in the suitcase and by 11:30 we were on our way! We drove through Wendy’s in Moultrie, got a meal on wheels & continued on our way. Not seeing anything at Camilla, nor Leary….but between Leary and Edison…we began to see the snow on the side of the road…a little….made a stop in Edison at the DG (dollar general) to see if they had any rain boots for Kylie…not, but they did have a pair of gloves for me…we had Kylie some mittens…remembered those…just thought we could fine some boots or such!
Now we are really seeing some snow! I get out my camera, Kylie got upset…she forgot her camera…I let her take a few with mine…but it is a nice camera & heavy, I do not want it broken…she pouts. All the way to Fort Gaines…except she did eat a cupcake and that made her smile!!! We are experiencing icing on the road…put it in 4 wheel drive, that helped! When we got to Fort Gaines they had quite a bit of snow. We stopped at a jiffy store…Papa got Kylie 2 disposable cameras! Rotten!!! As we waited for him in the truck we rolled down the window….I told her to stick her hand out the window. The snow fell on her hand. She giggled and said, “ Mema J, What is this stuff? Snow baby snow!
We also made another stop at a DG…no boots…they do have chips, and lots of snow. I rolled down my window and said aloud…Oh, I have to get a picture of this. Then we hear a little echo from the back as another window is rolled down….I need to get one of this too!!!
Well, Cole did go & guide a quail shoot today. His Dad went along & put out the birds and the dogs. They got through around 2:00. He held up pretty well, but did not take his sling??? After they put the dogs back up they came to the barn. He fell asleep for about 2 hours in the recliner. Holding up that big ole hand will wear you out! Plus the antibiotics! Glad he got to get out & feel productive! He will go again Sat. & Sun.
