Snow Fun
Thursday, I heard on the news that South GA could possibly get some snow. I told WB that I would love to take Kylie to see some snow, he thought it was a great idea. We could go after he did his banking on Friday. We talked early Friday AM and I really thought we would just take a chance & stay home, we could get a little. Then around 10:00 I looked on the net & it said that Fort Gaines was getting snow already. WB called to make sure, yep they were! He came home & told us to get a suitcase packed. He had made a reservation at George T. Bagby State Park. Kylie and I threw some duds in the suitcase and by 11:30 we were on our way! We drove through Wendy’s in Moultrie, got a meal on wheels & continued on our way. Not seeing anything at Camilla, nor Leary….but between Leary and Edison…we began to see the snow on the side of the road…a little….made a stop in Edison at the DG (dollar general) to see if they had any rain boots for Kylie…not, but they did have a pair of gloves for me…we had Kylie some mittens…remembered those…just thought we could fine some boots or such!
Now we are really seeing some snow! I get out my camera, Kylie got upset…she forgot her camera…I let her take a few with mine…but it is a nice camera & heavy, I do not want it broken…she pouts. All the way to Fort Gaines…except she did eat a cupcake and that made her smile!!! We are experiencing icing on the road…put it in 4 wheel drive, that helped! When we got to Fort Gaines they had quite a bit of snow. We stopped at a jiffy store…Papa got Kylie 2 disposable cameras! Rotten!!! As we waited for him in the truck we rolled down the window….I told her to stick her hand out the window. The snow fell on her hand. She giggled and said, “ Mema J, What is this stuff? Snow baby snow!
We also made another stop at a DG…no boots…they do have chips, and lots of snow. I rolled down my window and said aloud…Oh, I have to get a picture of this. Then we hear a little echo from the back as another window is rolled down….I need to get one of this too!!!
Quail Guide
Well, Cole did go & guide a quail shoot today. His Dad went along & put out the birds and the dogs. They got through around 2:00. He held up pretty well, but did not take his sling??? After they put the dogs back up they came to the barn. He fell asleep for about 2 hours in the recliner. Holding up that big ole hand will wear you out! Plus the antibiotics! Glad he got to get out & feel productive! He will go again Sat. & Sun.
Wednesday
Kylie is a mess!!! This afternoon when Bart came to get her…she ran in my office sat beside the office chair, wrapped her arms around the middle post of the chair and began crying…I not want to go home, I stay with my Mema J….over and over again. Somebody save me, I can’t take it!!! I not want to leave my Mema J! Guess who is in my bed this very minute??? (his has been her home for 3 1/2 years.)Then she tries to make Bart stay here with her and play….I will be glad when she feels better again. She has not felt well for about 3 weeks now…..But Cole was much better today…we took him some supper. He has a quail guide tomorrow. His Dad is going with him, he is still on antibiotics & is tired faster than normal. Today he stayed up & going most of the day….it was 1 week ago today, he had his accident. WB will help him until he is sure he can hold out. Lots of walking, picking up birds, loading dogs, unloading dogs, and holes and stumps…he does not shoot on these…he just gets paid to guide his dogs. He has 3 more for the next 3 weekends. On those the man told him he would give him a helper & all he would have to do is direct his dogs. Once he gets his hard cast on I will feel OK about it. Keep praying for a speedy recovery and thanking God for protection.
Tuesday Events
Went over to Cole’s to help him work on his printer/fax machine. I had Kylie this am as most days….I suspect she is not feeling well! I mean she did throw her bunny at my head! Took Cole some ink I had….ran to town & got the color ink so the thing would work! Got it going, printed a few pictures for him…he is feeling a little better each day!!! Taking less pain meds everyday! Got a call from Casey…decide that Kylie need to see doc. Miss Kylie does not want just her Mom to take her…she wants Mema J. I meet them there. Wait at least 2 hours…if she not sick, she will be now. She doc…throat, not her ears….I knew she was sick! Then, she wants a treat…because I bribed her. She wants a push-up from a store in Hahira, where they live. We stopped the other day & got TCBY. They also had a phone booth outside & the phone was missing. The man that helped us was RUDE…I said…I won’t go back there….have I not learned not to say that??? She pitched one more fit and because she is sick….with sucker written on my forehead…I took her! Casey went to get her meds! Yep, we went right back up there…she only wanted it from that store, with the broken phone and the thing with all the ice cream in it. I told the other man how she only wanted it from THAT store…..he gave her a little toy! Guess who she spent the night with!!!
Monday Appt.
Well, 8:30 appt… here we are! Arrive and they tell us they have us down for 1:30…I don’t think so…I have my card. Fill out paper work and wait….with one impatient person I might add. If you have not taken a Bridges Man to the hospital or a doc. visit, then consider yourself blessed!!! They are just not good at waiting or sitting still! I believe this would be unanimous if I took a vote among the women in this family…and many others I am sure. We keep telling them to shh, hush, be quiet until we just give up & start laughing at them. THEY WILL SAY…JUST HOW LONG IS THIS GONNA TAKE, I been sitting here for an hour, I have stuff I need to go and do! Like the doc is on their schedule! We are really laughing because we know they call you back & you think you are going to be seen…not….they take you to another waiting room!!!Hee!
They x-ray his hand, we get to the room, they un-bandage it…& the non-stick stuff helped…yeah!!!
Clean it again…yuck. But it is healing. Doc checks out the x-ray, admiring his work!!! I see the pins and I can also see the other break in the thumb…clean down to the joint. Then he tells us that if that does not hold together he will have to go in & put in another screw….take a break….while I slap the doc…..Cole’s said…I don’t want that!!!! They were able to put the soft cast on and maybe next week take out the stitches & put on the hard cast. His hand is wrapped up more now than before!!! But at least it is more protected now! I believe I was confused…I think this is the day we took the computer & ate…oh well, after all this, why would I know what day it is anyway!!! Guess what time our next appt is….yep….8:30….does he not realize that I can not sleep at night???
Saturday
We decided we would take Cole to eat breakfast Saturday & get him out of the house a little. Sarah joined us…she has been a trooper taking care of Cole!!! Cole really did not want to see & talk to anyone, but it was not real busy! Those pain meds just make you not very sociable…how does anyone get hooked on Lortab (sp)…they make us feel yucky! We ate, went to visit his dogs and he washed those pens out with just that one hand…would not let his Dad help him!!! Went to the barn & let him check out his deer he had mounted. He also checked out the gun that blew up on him. Still puzzled about what happened. Got someone checking out the gun, hopefully they can tell us what happened. We need to know to help others not have this trouble…we know to many hunters….and had this been a child or a lady…well, we would not have come out as well. Cole has a tough, big old hand! Besides that we know God was taking care of him!!!
Friday’s visit
Friday is was raining cats and frogs! We had to keep the hand dry!!! I pulled up close to his house…got the umbrella, got him in the car and we headed to the doc. Had to get the bandage off & wound cleaned! She took off the bandage, cleaned it out. It looked a lot better to me Friday than Thursday! Taking off the bandage without the pre-wrap…it was pretty painful…I am so glad he decided to let them change it!!! We went and took his computer to get fixed, then to get a sling to put his arm in----elevated---not as much pain!!!! Next we picked up some BBQ from Smokin Pig!!! Yum. Sarah met us at his house and we enjoyed our meal! I was soaking wet. It was rather funny, me with the umbrella helping him, let alone opening the doors for him! He is still faster than me with one hand!!! Oh yes….I stuffed my pants in my boots to keep them dry…..who cares!!! It is like a brown top..black shoes!!! A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!!! Back to doc on Monday…of course he made an 8:30 appointment….me must go to bed Sunday…early!!!
